How your day will go
A mix of engaging talks and hands-on creation facilitated by our experts. The day is structured so that you learn how each component of the turbine works as you construct them. You create copper coils and manipulate magnets to make a generator, carve turbine blades from wood, and assemble everything into a full tower. At the end of the day your turbine will be put to the test with real (or artificial) wind by powering a selection of household objects. Starting with a pile of raw materials, you will finish the day with a fully functional wind turbine and a massive feeling of satisfaction from creating something.
Along the way you will develop new skills and become familiar with a whole array of hand tools. You will learn how a generator works and what the role of renewable energy in society is. And your group will come together to complete a satisfying project.
Don’t worry if you’re not the handy type. We are experienced in guiding complete beginners through the whole process. So don’t be afraid to do something a little bit different!
Is it for me?
Our workshops are ideal for team-building events, community groups, or even just groups of friends. The workshops are designed for groups of 10 with one of our experts per group but we can also organise events for parties of up to 30 people.
How long will it take?
The standard workshop runs across one working day but we can also tailor it for your specific needs. We can add content and depth to make a two-day experience or strip it down to make half a day. Just get in touch and we will be happy to arrange it.

Requirements
As this is a practical experience, there are certain simple requirements for the venue. For each group of ten we require two sturdy tables and a sweepable floor (so no carpets). If you have a suitable space, we can run the workshop at your location. If not, then we can help arrange a suitable local venue.
We bring all the materials and tools so you don’t need to bring anything apart from yourselves!
