A course that involved installing a 1.2m 12V machine on an 8m guyed tower with a raspberry pi data logger and a morningstar tristar dumpload controller. The tower is an experimental wooden construction designed by the students with a metal top-piece to interface with the standard 1.2m mounting. The course was run over four sessions for students of various departments as part of the ‘Engineers Without Borders’ module. The turbine itself had been built with V3’s help on a similar course the previous year.
