Installation at Nant-y-Cwm Farm One Planet Development

Back in May we had a lovely two days in the sunny Welsh hills installing one of our turbines for a family living off grid who had these nice things to say:

nant y cwm family”We have just installed our new wind turbine. Our batteries are charged this morning, we usually only have charged batteries at the end of a bright day so this will make a big difference to us. Its amazing while it’s windy and beautiful when it’s still, and quiet too. We are delighted with it and the whole installation process. We would thoroughly recommend V3 Power to anyone thinking of getting a wind turbine, they gave us an excellent service, answered all our questions and gave us all the information we needed to be able to  look after the turbine way into the future. Thank you V3!”

20150526_094403Sarah & Dan and their kids were the first people to be awarded planning permission for a ‘One Planet Development’. A pioneering scheme which supports people who can demonstrate a commitment to sustainable living. They are off grid and rely on a 24V battery bank for their electricity. They had a solar system but no other means of charging the batteries. We had a 2.4m turbine in our workshop which was built on a previous course so we tidied it up and put together an electrical system for it. Dan made a lovely chunky tower and sourced some appropriate cabling. Because the labour for the turbine was covered by the course and Dan built the tower himself they only had to pay us for the turbine and electrical system materials. The electrical system cost was also low as the existing solar controller could also act as a diversion load controller for the turbine.
